Three foot pedal assemblies that cover most New Holland skid steers

When the boom or bucket pedal on an older New Holland skid steer goes soft, or snaps at the pivot, the question is whether to rebuild it or buy the assembly. Here is how the numbers sort out.

Start with the machine, not the pedal

New Holland used different pedal assemblies across three broad generations of skid steer. The casting and the linkage changed with the machine, so the assembly number follows the model, not the year. If you know the model, you can pick the assembly from the table below.

Part numberFitsPrice
PEDALSLX465-L150L465, LX465, LX485, LS140, LS150, L140, L150$695.00
PEDALSLX565-LS190$795.00
PEDALSL553-L555L553, L554, L555$590.00

If only one part is worn out

A pedal that still moves but feels loose is usually a bushing or a link, not the whole assembly. The four parts that fail first are the link from the pedal arm to the valve spool, the pedal itself, the control arm, and the bushing at the pedal support. Check those before you price an assembly.

How to tell which generation you have

The L553, L554 and L555 used the smallest of the three assemblies. The L465 through LX485 and the LS140 / LS150 / L140 used a different casting with a longer pedal arm. The L565 through LX985 and the LS160 to LS190 used the largest assembly, with the pedal shaft carried in a heavier bracket. If your model is not listed, send the serial number and we will check the parts book.

One more thing: the pedal shaft and the pedal itself are available separately for all three generations, so a worn pivot does not always mean a new assembly. Measure the shaft before ordering — the lengths differ between the L553-era machines and the later ones.
